The National Institute of Cartography is a public administrative institution, which has the legal responsibility and financial autonomy.

It ensures the implementation of work on mapping and remote sensing, and the work
geography on the whole national territory in accordance with Decree No. 2003/162 of 27 June 2003.The work and research projects of the National Institute of Cartography conduct a scientific programming reviewed and approved by a Program Committee according to the objectives of development trends the socio-economic and political policies of Cameroon and the Cameroon government.
